The Washington regional championship game is set. The Washington Panthers will be playing against the Morris Redskins. I talked to Morris’s Landrie Callahan about the upcoming game.

Player Profile

Landrie Callahan is a 6’2 junior with several division one offers. She recently became the all time leading scorer at Morris. She has had monster double doubles and an eye popping 20 rebounds in a game.

Your sister Layken is playing with you. How fun is it to be on the court together competing? “Yes it’s very fun, it’s nice to know you always have someone to rely on during a game and she’s been a huge help.”

You are playing against Washington, the number one team in the state. What is your team going to have to do in order to beat them? “We are going to have to work as a team, Washington is a very good team as everyone knows and for us to beat them we have to dig deep as a team to pull through for a win.”

Obviously the thing that jumps out with Morris is your height. How do you think your height and length will help on defense against a very potent Washington offense? “Obviously our height gives us many advantages, but it’s also nice for us on defense because most of our team, especially the starters, are able to guard from the positions 1-5.”

Morris looks to shock class 3A and beat the one seed Washington Panthers in Torrey Gymnasium on Thursday.
