Emy has made her commitment. She’s staying in Peoria and will go to Bradley University. She will be teammates with her sister Mya. The last time they were on the floor together they won the IHSA State Championship. I talked to Emy about her commitment.
What made you choose to stay in Peoria and what about Bradley stood out to you? “I chose to stay in Peoria because it is a tight knit community that supports Bradley basketball. Bradley stood out to me not just because of my family but the coaching staff really put in the effort to recruit me which made me have strong relationships with them.”
What’s it going to be like playing with your sister Mya again? “It’s going to be a lot of fun getting another year together and hopefully winning a championship together.”
Going into your senior year, what are you looking forward to the most? “I’m looking forward to taking on a bigger role and becoming a better leader with the younger team we have.”
I talked to Mya about her sister Emy committing to Bradley.
What’s it like to find out your sister (Emy) is committing to Bradley? “Emy actually surprised me with her commitment. I had no idea that she was going to do it when she did. I tried to not push her too hard because I wanted this to be her choice, but when she told me I was super emotional. I am so proud of her and how much she has grown these past few months, and being able to play together again is going to be amazing.”
What makes Emy stand out compared to others on the floor? “Emy has an elite ability to get to the rim and create for herself and others. She has a speed that is deceivingly fast and makes it hard to guard her. She's also extremely physical and can apply pressure on both ends of the floor. She is a matchup problem for many teams because of her length as well.”
Emy is a first team all state player, and a back to back unanimous all conference first team who averages six assists per game in her high school career. Emy looks to have a big senior year at Peoria Notre Dame.
