Yes, it's April. I miss high school basketball so here is my way too early rankings
1.Peoria Notre Dame
PND is coming off of a state championship and could possibly do it again. They lost Mya Wardle and other seniors but have a very strong team with Baer, Cassidy, Mingus, and Emy Wardle. Don't be surprised if you see PND back at state this year.
2. Washington
The Washington Panthers have a ton of talent with Juniors Tibbs, McDougall, and O'Brien. The Washington Panthers had a strong season last year going 12-2 in conference play and had an overall record of 23-7. With the three Juniors heading back to Washington, look for them to be better than last year and back for another great season.
3. Morton
If you think of Morton Potters girls basketball you would think of success. Hall of fame coach Bob Becker has had so much success at Morton. Look for sophomore Paige Selke to be a problem for other teams. I like her style of play. Morton won the Mid Illini conference going 13-1 in conference play last season and had a record of 26-6 on the season.
4. Dunlap
Dunlap is losing a few core pieces from their program in Julia "Bubba" Sollberger and Justice Krus. Dunlap will look for Caroline Holmes and Kelis Morris to be key pieces this season. It will be interesting to see how they use their youth. The sophomore group won a middle school state championship as well as their freshman class. We will get a better picture of the Dunlap Eagles in June where they will play in the Windmill City Shootout.
5. Deer Creek-Mackinaw
Deer Creek-Mackinaw had a strong season last year with a program record 32 wins. Junior Dalia DeJesus will continue to be a problem for other teams. One of the best small forwards in the state as she averaged 17 points, 9 rebounds per game.
