Former Dunlap Eagle Sophia Remmel had an impressive season at Morton College. She averaged 12.5 points per game, 3.8 rebounds, and 3 assists, shooting 39.6% from the field and 31.8% from three. She was 5th in the nation in three pointers making 85 on the year. She was also 14th in the nation shooting 31.8% from three. Her team had a successful year with a record of 33-4 and finished 5th place in nationals.

I asked Sophia what she will remember during her time at Morton College. "For sure the relationships formed and growth that I had to go through. College is a big adjustment, athletically, educationally, and just overall a change that will cause you to mature in a lot of ways. With being an athlete, you learn to be the toughest version of yourself because that's what's going to rocket your performance. The best part of it, though, was getting to experience the growth with 9 other girls who are going through the same thing and being able to build lifelong relationships off of it."

What's the transfer process like, and have you had any official offers from schools yet?

"Since i'm coming out of a JUCO, the process is a lot easier than you'd think. I simply had to request a release, and after a couple signatures I was good to go. I received an offer from a Division two school just today."

I know it’s early but what does the timeline look for you when it comes to committing to another school? "Ideally I'd like to be committed by late this month. It's pretty late in the commitment world, so I know coaches are also looking for rosters to be completed pretty soon here."

Sophia has three years of eligibility left. This story will be updated.
