The 2024 Regular Season champs and the defending champions Pour Bros Jacks look to win back to back championships. This is the same matchup we had last year with the Pour Bros Jacks and the Crusens Reds. The number one seed Pour Bros Jacks have a record of 18-7 on the year.
The number three seed Crusens Reds have a record of 16-9.
The PSML Championship game will be at Dozer park and for the 2nd year in a row it will be the Pour Bros Jacks and the Crusen’s Reds. I talked with Pour Bros jacks manager Zach Skulte.
Your team is going for back to back championships and it’s against the Crusen’s Reds again. What’s the game plan going into Dozer? “To stay with ourselves and continue to play Pour Bros Jacks baseball. We have a tight knit group of guys who are excited for the opportunity to play again at Dozer Park.”
Both teams have great pitching. What’s the approach offensively knowing you are playing against two of the best pitchers in the league this year with Ponce and Barham? “They have great pitching and we have great hitting. Both lineups are stacked 1 through 9 and more. Fans are excited to see how it will play out.”
I talked to Crusen’s Reds starting pitcher Jack Barham about the upcoming rematch of the Championship series. Jack Barham stats for this season have been impressive. He has a 1.30 ERA in 37.2 innings.
You’re facing Pour Bros in the championship again. What’s the plan to beat them and win the Thome Trophy this year? “I believe the plan is to keep playing how we have been playing since the start of July. If we can have our pitchers to continually dominate the zone and our hitters keep attacking the ball I think we will put ourselves in a great spot to win that trophy.”
The Reds pitching staff has been very impressive. How much does it mean to have 2-3 really good starting pitchers against one of the best lineups in the league? “It means a lot to have a few guys that can be dominant on the mound for sure. It will be tough to compete against their lineup, but as long as we do what we’ve been doing I think we will be just fine. We also have some guys in the bullpen that are always ready to come in and shut things down if our starters need a little help.”
Players To Watch For
There are some great players in this championship series that you should watch, for the Pour Bros Jacks, the guy from ICC Aiden Fulton. Aiden is leading the team in batting average at .365. The Pour Bros lineup from top to bottom is deadly but Aiden can especially hit the ball.
Brady Brecklin is also a really good hitter for Pour Bros. The ICC Cougar and former player in the MLB has had himself quite a season. For the Crusens Reds, there pitching is something to watch. From the 2023 pitcher of the year Andrew Ponce, to Jack Barham. These two pitchers have been great for the Crusens Reds.
The PSML championship series will start Sunday night at 6 pm. Come on down to Dozer Park to see who will take home the 2024 Thome Trophy.
