Preston Rowe’s Historic Day

Preston Rowe had one of the greatest days ever. He went 3-3 with a home run driving in four RBI’s in game one of the double header. The second game he followed it up by throwing a no hitter.

I asked Preston about his hitting in game one. “It felt amazing. The two singles were kind of overshadowed by the home run but I’m glad I got some good contact hits because I felt like I was struggling the last couple of games. The home run felt good off the bat but I couldn’t tell if it was fair or foul until I heard the dugout cheering. But overall I felt very good at the plate.”

Throwing a no hitter is special. Some pitchers are so focused they don't even realize they are making history. I asked Preston if he ever knew during the game he was doing something special on the mound. “In about the 5th inning, I asked my brother, Carson and my friend, Jacob if I had allowed any hits and they said they didn’t know. However, after the game they told me that they both knew that I had a no hitter through 5 and didn’t want to ruin it when I asked. I couldn’t remember at the end of the game if I allowed a hit because there were a lot of hard hit balls and Clayton said that I just had a no hitter and gave me the ball, after the last out.”

The Royals have five games next week and our just two games behind first place. Next week could be the biggest season for the Royals. I asked Preston about his mindset for next week. “Well Saturday is my birthday so I probably won’t think about it too much this week. But I really feel like our bats are coming around and we’re catching our stride right in the heart of summer, so hopefully we can keep it rolling the rest of July.” Preston had an early birthday gift this week, and hopes to continue the celebration next week, which includes a week packed of games and excitement.

History for Preston Rowe.

This No-Hitter was the first 7 inning No-Hitter pitched by a single player since Bryce Brecklin's No-Hitter at Dozer Park on 7/17/24.
