I talked to PND senior Guard Mya Wardle about her senior night and getting ready for the postseason.
Describe what your senior night experience was like with your whole family being there and all the seniors being able to play on the floor tonight.
“It was such an amazing experience. I love these girls so much and we have built a culture that I know will last throughout the years. We have established a work ethic and legacy that I am proud to have built up with these girls and coaches. This night was special, and being on the court with my best friends was the best part.”
You’re heading into the postseason next week. How does the team handle blocking out the noise when it comes to rankings and your team’s record?
“We really just take it one game at a time. We are living in the moment and being in our shoes. We have confidence coming in and we respect all fear none. We are really excited and grateful for this opportunity to play for something big this year and we are going all out.”
Kaitlin Cassidy
I talked to Junior Kaitlin Cassidy on what these seniors mean to her and how they help the team.
“These girls mean the world to me. I couldn’t have asked for better teammates to play with the past three years. They took me under their wing when I was a nervous freshman and taught me what true friendship means. I look forward to practices and games every day just to be able to laugh and joke around with all of them.”
Junior Lexi Baer was on fire last night scoring 26 points. Kaitlin talks about how Lexi has helped this team out through her first year on the Irish.
“Lexi had definitely upgraded the dynamic of the team this season and having her along with Julia as shooters on the perimeter makes us deadly and unstoppable. Off the court Lexi is a ray of sunshine to be around and we all gravitate towards her positivity, she’s a great girl to have as a teammate and to be around.”
PND plays in the IVC regional on Monday. They await the winner of Kewanee and Farmington.
