The PND Lady Irish are the class 2A regional champions. I talked to Junior Lexi Baer on how she has fit in with the team in her first year.
"This team is one of the hardest working teams I’ve been on. It's a fun environment and everyone has been fun to be around. I transferred in and didn’t really know what To expect and didn't really know too many people but as the year went on I became so close with everyone on the team and they have helped me feel included and overall we are a really tight group and being as close as we are has helped us as a team."
This game started off with both offenses going cold. At the four minute mark PND led 2-1. Sherrard had a 10-4 led over the number one state ranked Lady Irish. PND went on a 16-0 run late in the 1st quarter that went into the 2nd quarter that helped the Irish jump out to a 20-10 lead. The Lady Irish won 66-33. This is the first regional title for the Peoria Notre Dame Lady Irish since 2014.
The Wardle sisters took over this game. Senior Mya Wardle scored a game high 20 points. Her younger sister, Emy scored 12 points.
The Lady Irish will head to Canton next Tuesday to play Bloomington Central Catholic at 6PM in the sectional semifinals.
