PND’s Lexi Baer is one of the top three point shooters in the entire state of Illinois. Last week, she made her big decision. She committed to Butler University. I talked to her about her commitment and what she’s looking forward to in her senior season.
You had a lot of offers. What stood out about Butler that led to your decision? “They were one of the first schools to recruit me. They have been with me since the end of Freshman year and have been consistently showing interest. They have an amazing program and the Butler coaching staff is amazing as well. I am really close with all of them.” In the end, it just felt right.”
It’s your senior season. What’s the goal for your last hs season? “Team wise, I want to go back to state. We have a new team and have a lot of potential. The end goal is always to reach that potential and get as far as we can. My personal goal this season is to be a leader and be player of the year.”
PND is back up to 3A. How different and difficult will it be to have Morton and Washington in the sectional? “I am excited to be moved up to 3A. I think as a team we need to accept the challenge. They are good programs and it will take discipline to win those games. Knowing that we will have to play them in season/post season will be good to push our team.”
Peoria Notre Dame brings back a talented group. For Lexi, she hopes this year is her best one yet.
