The Dunlap Eagles softball team won a share of the Mid-Illini Conference for the first time ever. I talked to Sutton Centoni on what it means to win conference and talk about her dominance in the circle this season.

How does it feel to win the Mid Illini Conference?

“It feels great! Especially being the first softball team to achieve this at Dunlap makes it even better!”

Dunlap has a record of 22-7 and won a share of the Mid-Illini Conference. Here is what Sutton said about what the team is focused on in the postseason. “To continue playing as a team with high energy and take it one game at a time!”

Sutton has pitched great this season. She has pitched 113 innings and has a record of 15-3 on the season. She has struck out 216 batters and has an incredible 0.81 ERA on the season. I talked about what her mindset is in the circle pitching in big games. “My mindset is to not get ahead and take each inning batter by batter. Also having trust in my team behind me is huge knowing they have my back!”

Sutton says the seniors have played a big part for her and the entire team.

“Being around them all has been amazing. Being able to learn from their experience and see the importance of what playing together as a team means!”

Dunlap will play Geneseo on Tuesday in the Dunlap regionals. First pitch is at 6 PM.
