The Canton Little Giants have a talented arm coming into the program.Ranked 10th in the state by Perfect Game along with other websites. Freshman Kash VanHouten is ready to start his high school career. One of the top velo’s in the state. His fastball sits 85-87 MPH and has topped 89 MPH. With him only being a freshman, his potential could be one of the most recruited high schoolers in canton history.

How excited are you to start your high school career here in the next couple of weeks with Canton? “I’m really excited, with it being my first year of high school. I am ready to see all the competition and what playing with older kids will bring to the table for me. I love all the guys and we have a really hard working group this year. So I’m ready and excited to see what Canton baseball can do this season.”

Perfect game ranked him 10th in the state in the freshmen rankings. “I like to stay within myself and just do what I do. I feel like the rankings are for a reason and I can’t let myself get too high or low. So I just like to control what I can control and always try to just be me and not really worry about what everybody is saying.”

I asked him what’s one thing that he is working on this year? “The mental side of the game. Trying to really focus on staying strong in the mind, and not letting failure affect me as a player or my team the rest of the game.”

Canton has a talented arm in their program and expect big things to come from Kash and the Canton Little Giants through the next four years.
