Dunlap PND Girls Basketball

This girls basketball game between Dunlap and Peoria Notre Dame was more than a game. It was about coming together. Two teams came together and helped raise money for Dylan's Defenders and Team Tessa in the fight for childhood cancer. Dylan Langhoff a PND student son of PND Girls Basketball Coach Layne Langhoff was diagnosed with Sarcoma in the summer. Dunlap Tessa Sutton passed away last spring with osteosarcoma, a rare cancer of the soft tissue. Tessa's legacy lives on as the Tessa Sutton foundation continues to raise awareness for kids with cancer. Before the game the two teams gathered around Tessa Sutton's parents for a picture that is seen below.

Game recap
Dunlap showed up and their defense looked very good and were right in the game. In the 2nd quarter, the Eagles held the Irish to 2 points. At halftime, PND only had a one point lead with the score being 20-19. Early in the 3rd quarter, the Eagles tied it up at 23 with 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Headed into the 4th quarter, the Irish held a three point lead with the score at 32-29. Peoria Notre Dame went on a run in the final few minutes of the game and won 49-34.
Julia Sollberger had a game high 19 points which ended up not to be enough as the Irish, led by Julia Mingus ended up with 13 points and Kaitlin Cassidy with 12 points.
