The Peoria Sunday Morning League had history at Dozer park last week. Pour Bros starting pitcher Bryce Brecklin threw a no-hitter against the MoveSmart Mariners. He went 7 innings walking three and striking out eight. This is the first no-hitter since June 2nd, 2021 when Josh Caruso threw a perfect game against the Crusens Reds. I talked to Bryce Brecklin after his no-hitter.

The Pour Bros Jacks are on a roll and are in first place in the league, and are going for back to back championships under manager Zach Skulte.

I asked Zach how important Bryce has been to our team's overall success this summer.

“Bryce has been so good for us as our Wednesday night guy this summer. It’s nice to have a consistent guy like that you can count on during the week. He’s still in college but he brings a veteran presence to our pitching staff. He’s incredibly dedicated to his craft.” Skulte said.

What was it like throwing a no-hitter at Dozer park?

“It was definitely a great experience just being able to go out and win a game.” Bryce said.

The league was playing in the Dozer Series where every team got to play one game at Dozer Park, the home of the Peoria Chiefs.

Your team is hot and in first place in the league. What does the team have to do to keep up the success? “Keep commanding games throughout and get hot for the right time of year.”

Bryce pitched at ICC for two years and now is at MidAmerica Nazarene. He is going back for his 5th and final season this fall. In 2022, Bryce made the NAIA World Series with MidAmerica Nazarene. In 2022 and 2023 MidAmerica Nazarene made it to the National Tournament.

Bryce and the Pour Bros Jacks look to keep up their hot streak and win another Thome trophy.
