Dunlap, East Peoria, Canton, Brimfield, and Peoria Notre Dame all have one thing in common. They are undefeated to start out this baseball season. The question is, who will be undefeated the longest? Let’s take a look out how all the teams have done so far and what’s ahead of them.
Dunlap
Dunlap is 5-0 for the 2nd year in a row. They made a statement on their opening day beating Sterling 23-1. They beat Richwoods 6-4. Civic Memorial 6-2. Mt. Vernon gave them a close one as Dunlap won on a come from behind victory winning 10-9. Lincoln gave them everything they got and Dunlap got the win 12-8. Dunlap plays in Myrtle Beach this week against teams from out of state. Some of their opponents haven’t played a game yet this season so it’s kind of a mystery how the Eagles will perform out of state.
East Peoria is 5-0 to start the season and look like they have a very good squad. Starting out strong with a record of 5-0 their closest game was against Normal West where the Raiders won 13-10. In the first 5 games of the season the Raiders have scored 65 runs. With talent up and down their lineup they could have a very successful season. The next couple games the Raiders have Richwoods, Galesburg, and Normal University on their schedule. Normal University has some big talent on their roster that could pose a threat to the Raiders.
Canton is 5-0 and has one of the best offenses in the state as of now. They have scored 79 runs in their first five games. Freshman Kash VanHouten has had a terrific start to his highschool career. Canton has Limestone and Brimfield on their schedule. Canton and Brimfield are undefeated on the year and we could see one team get their first loss of the year in that matchup.
Brimfield is 4-0 to start the season and have Canton next Tuesday. One of these teams will see their first loss of the season.
PND is 2-0 to start the season. They play three games in three days. They play United Township, Morton, and Tremont. Morton will be the hardest challenge for the Irish next week.
