Dunlap Oakton (Virginia)
Dunlap played Oakton (Virginia) in Myrtle Beach today. The Eagles started freshman Eli Michanicou who got his first career win going 3 innings giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, over 3 innings, striking out 2 and walking 3. Newton, Tresenriter, Weeks, Thiel, Johnson, Diver, and Shissler each got a hit for the eagles. Weeks and Johnson both drove in 2 runs which helped the Eagles win 5-0. Owen Shissler was really good in relief for the Eagles. He went. 4 innings giving up 1 hit, 0 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. The Dunlap Eagles are now 6-1 on the season and play 2 more games in Myrtle Beach tommorow.
East Peoria Richwoods
The weather wasn't the best but these two teams played. East Peoria went with Curt Sosnowski on the mound. Cameron Hayes was on the mound for the Knights. East Peoria used small ball to start the game. After East Peoria's leadoff hitter Hartwell got hit by the pitch, Hidden hit a sacrifice bunt that moved Hartwell over to 3rd base. Curt Sosnowski was awarded an RBI on a sac fly to right field to score Hartwell and got the Raiders a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning. The Knights tied the game up in the top of the 2nd inning on a single by Wittekiend. East Peoria took the lead right back in the bottom of the 2nd thanks to an error on the shortstop Wittekiend. East Peoria scored a pair on a passed ball to get a 4-1 lead. Curt Sosnowski helped himself out with a 2 out double in the 4th inning to increase the lead to 6-1.
The bottom of the Richwoods lineup did some damage. The 7-9 hitters for Richwoods went 4-9 with an RBI. East Peoria's starting pitcher Curt Sosnowski, went 5.1 innings giving up four hits, one run, four walks, and struck out seven. Lance Tolliver came into relief and went 1.2 innings giving up two hits, zero runs, zero walks, and struck out one. Richwoods starting pitcher Cameron Hayes, went 4 innings giving up three hits, six runs (one earned), three walks, and got three strikeouts. Jarek Quinn came into the 5th in relief for the Knights. He went 2 innings giving up one hit, zero runs, one walk, and struck out four. East Peoria won this game 6-1 and stay undefeated at 6-0 on the season.
IVC Eureka
It was a pitching duel in this one. This game went 6 scoreless innings before we saw some action. IVC's Perez had an RBI single in the top of the 7th to take a 1-0 lead for the Grey Ghosts. Eureka's Starting pitcher Wiegand had a day on the mound as well. He went 6.1 innings giving up two hits, 1 run, 5 walks and 8 strikeouts.
IVC's starting pitcher CK White threw a phenomenal game today. He threw a complete game shutout allowing just 6 hits, 0 walks, and 7 strikeouts.
